Our boat trips depart from the Castle pier just outside the village of Carrigaholt. As you enter the village from Kilkee the pier and Castle dominate your view so it is easy to find. It is best to park in the car park at the entrance to the pier and walk down to boat (100mtrs). You can park under the high wall of the castle as you enter the pier but not on the pier itself as this blocks other pier users.

Driving directions:-
You can plan your route on the attached map but our county town is Ennis which is well served by a fine motorway the M18.
If you are driving from Limerick, Dublin or Cork you will be coming north on this road or if driving from Galway you will be heading south. In any case you take exit 12 onto the N85 which is signed posted for Ennis and Kilrush. After this exit you pick up the N68 to Kilrush and then the N67 to Kilkee. From Kilkee you pick up the signs for Loop Head and Carrigaholt.
You can also reach Kilkee along the N67 if you are staying in North Clare or travelling across the Shannon ferry from Kerry / west Limerick.
Driving time from Ennis is about an Hour, Limerick 1.5 and Galway almost 2 hours.
If you are coming on a Fish and Stay Package you will most likely want to get to our Guest house first.
Glencarrig Guest House is just over a mile from the village of Carrigaholt and Carrigaholt is at the mouth of the Shannon River in County Clare, 7 miles west of Kilkee on the Loop Head Peninsula and 60 miles west of Limerick City and 50 miles from Shannon Airport.
Getting there By Plane:- You can fly into Shannon Airport and we can arrange to have you picked up or you can hire a car. If you drive you can use the directions above. Drive time is about 1 hour 15 mins.
Unfortunately there are only a limited number of direct flights from mainland Europe into Shannon although this is improving. There is a lot of choice flying into Dublin! Thankfully with the new road system the travel time from Dublin to Carrigaholt is now down to 3 – 3.5 hours. We can now also arrange to have you picked up at Dublin Airport.
By Ferry:- If you want to drive you can take the ferry to Dublin or Rosslare. From Dublin look for the N(M)7 to Limerick, then as the directions above.
From Rosslare take the N25 to Waterford, then the N24 to Limerick. Driving times from Dublin to Glencarrig House is 3 hours or Rosslare to Glencarrig Guest House is about 5 hours.
